Be Grounded – Avoid Free Fall

“Every now and then we hear about sudden down fall of companies and entrepreneurs doing very well otherwise, till recently. I just don’t understand the logic behind this. It is not industry specific, nor related to any local or global phenomenon. What do you think?”

“In most cases, it is due to wrong judgement mainly because of over confidence, and not being grounded.”

“What do you mean by not being grounded?”

“When the going is good, you take everything for granted, and there is a natural tendency to ignore core values, ethics, and the very purpose of your existence which in turn often disconnects you from your roots while taking decisions. The maxim is Be grounded and avoid free fall.”

“And by the by, what do you intend by free fall?”

“To quote an example, when the engine of an aircraft cuts off in the mid-air, there are no internal or external forces to stop it from falling; the fall is inevitable and fatal too.

Whenever I think of being grounded and avoid free fall, an old nursery rhyme which often comes to my mind (though there is no evidence to connect it) is:

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

All the King’s men and all the King’s horses

Could not put back Humpty Dumpty together again.
